Tracfone often offers particular phones or bundles to only certain market areas. It is very common to see a bundle offered in one zip code and not in another. This does not mean you cannot obtain this offer outside that market area. (See detailed info below)
If you enter a zip code and want to know what market area you are in, look at the url in the address bar.
You can see the “Market= ” as part of the address.

    http://www.tracfone-orders.com/bpdirect/tracfone/Start.do?action=view&market=GSM4……..
This tells you what market area the zip code you entered is in.

GSM4 =AT&T, GSM5 =T-Mobile, GSM5AT =T-Mobile & AT&T
CO =CDMA, COGSM4 =CDMA & AT&T, COGSM5 =CDMA & T-Mobile

Tracfone’s phones work on two different technologies. CDMA & GSM. CDMA phones do not have sim cards. GSM phones use sim cards. If you are familiar with cell phones, you know it is not that simple. If you are not familiar, that is all you need to know at this point. Tracfone’s CDMA service providers are Verizon, Alltel & USCellular. Their GSM providers are AT&T & T-Mobile.

CDMA phones are much more flexible than GSM because all you have to do is enter several strings of codes into a CDMA phone to reprogram it for use with another Tracfone CDMA carrier or to change the phone number.

GSM phones need the appropriate sim card for the GSM provider in the area where the phone will be used. Sim cards can be identified by a carrier designation code on the sim card itself. TFSIMC4 or TF64SIMC4 designate AT&T, TFSIMT5 designate T-Mobile. If you want to change the phone number of a GSM phone you will need a new sim card in order to do so.

TRACFONE provides nationwide prepaid wireless service. They use the nation’s leading cellular providers to create a national footprint covering 99% of the U.S. population. This gives you service everywhere cellular service is available. You can use your TRACFONE across the U.S. and if you move, you can relocate your wireless number with just a phone call.

Most of the major cellular providers, AT&T, Verizon & T-Mobile, have a different service area for their prepaid customers versus their contract customers. Their prepaid service areas can be much smaller and can also have other limits. This is not the case with Tracfone. You get the same service areas and service levels with these carriers that their contract customers get, not the limits of their prepaid service. This means you get better service from the same carrier than their own prepaid customers.

Tracfone may not offer CDMA phones in your area, but that does not mean you cannot use a CDMA phone there. They always get a better rate from GSM providers and therefore would prefer that you use a GSM phone in any area that has full GSM coverage available, even if a CDMA provider is available there also. There are times when there may not be phone numbers available from the GSM carrier because of so many users in the area. I have not had that problem with CDMA.

Be sure to confirm that the phone will work in your zip code prior to purchase.
There is plenty of help on this forum if you ask. It is always quicker and easier if you can provide the zip code when you inquire about phones or service for your area.

    Alltel Coverage Map

I am speculating that there is no longer service for GSM6 (Dobson, Cellular One) now that the AT&T merger is fully complete. I guess any GSM6 area will now be GSM4.
COGSM6 is currently showing only 2 phones. Both are CDMA
GSM6 shows no phones available now
GSM6AT shows no phones available now

    Lowes 10.00 off 50.00

I was at Lowes yesterday wishing I had a coupon…………………
Then, while waiting in the return line I saw it! 10.00 off 50.00 purchase coupon in the Gatorade 20pk pallet display.
They are on sale for 9.97 so you get them free.
I broke my sale down into 50 increments and walked with three free cases of Gatorade!

Lowes takes manufacturer coupons so if you have any Gatorade coupons or there are rebates for Gatorade it could become quite profitable.

Garmin StreetPilot c550 $175.99 PM @ BB or CC. possibly less w/ coupons… YMMV

    Rating: 2 Posted By: jplee3

    Hey guys,
Several places are offering the c550 for $199.99 now - Frys (B&M) has it in their Friday ad in the LA Times. Costco also has it (currently online but not B&M yet). WalMart.com has it for $198.xx too (not sure about B&Ms).

Bestbuy and CircuitCity are both selling this unit for $449.99

    Here are the details:
    110% PM at Bestbuy or Circuit City: $449.99 - $199.99 = $250 x 10% = $25; $199.99 - $25 = $174.99
    BB ONLY! - 12% RewardZone coupon discount (YMMV with this. Depends on the cashier/manager): $174.99 x 12% = $20.99; $174.99 - $20.99 = $154
Tax will obviously vary. If the 12% coupon doesn’t work, then it still comes out to $174.99, which isn’t too bad. The additional 12% just makes it hotter.
    There’s also a $5 Pricegrabber rebate

    My story:
I went to Bestbuy in hopes of successfully accomplishing a PM AND applying the coupon. I knew it was a long shot, but I figured “what better way to waste a few hours of my time?” The first BB I went to I waited for like 15 minutes because the cashier had no idea how to confirm the PM, even after calling Fry’s and getting the stock and price of $199.99. Anyway, she took it to her manager and I thought to myself “Great. I’m definitely not getting it now…” Whuddya know? I got shot down and the manager was like “I can’t sell this to you… it’s way below our cost. Sorry man. I know it sucks. I’d be angry too if I were you.”
Haha what BS. He probably figured I was a FWer and decided to hate. I wasn’t angry either, but maybe it appeared like I was Anyway, no big deal. I moved on to the next Bestbuy less than 5 miles away and was able to get the PM and also apply the 12% RewardZone coupon without a hitch. The guy checking me out was real cool about it.

BTW: make sure you check out the car adapter right away - I had to exchange TWO units because the adapter tip, that screws off to reveal the fuse, was broken! I couldn’t believe I got two lemons in a row. The third one was fine though. Phew…

I was testing the unit out right after getting it and am pretty happy with it. The TTS is super handy compared to TT Navigator’s (which can’t read street names).

Just cancelled my Crutchfield order for the Nuvi 200

    Good luck!
